Namangan region
Namangan
region, the administrative center of which is Namangan city, is one of the
regions of Uzbekistan, and also borders with Tashkent region in the West. The
meaning of the name of the city comes from the Persian language. This city got
its name because it was founded by people who mined salt and traded it. There
are 27 historical sites and holy places in the region. Namangan city was
created as a center of crafts. Pottery, jewelry, forged copper, shoe-making,
painting fabrics – with all of these ancient Namangan was famous. Being in
Namangan, one should definitely visit the mausoleum of Khodjamni-Cabra, built
in the 18th century, when Namangan was one of the biggest cities of the Fergana
valley. Whimsical terracotta, glazed with embossing multicolored trim decorates
the building of the mausoleum. You can also visit the Namangan national
historical Museum and the exotic city Bazaar in Namangan.
