Surkhandarya region



Surkhandarya region is located in the South of Uzbekistan. Its administrative center is the ancient city of Termez, which is more than 2500 years old. In Surkhandarya region much attention is paid to mountain and ecological tourism. A number of ancient archaeological and architectural monuments, ruins of ancient Zoroastrian, Nestorian and Buddhist fortresses and settlements, as well as monuments of Islamic architecture have been preserved in Termez and its surroundings. The architectural complex of Hakim at-Termezi, the cult-memorial complex of Sultan Saodat ensemble, Khanaka Kyrk-Kyz, the Buddhist cult center Kara-Tepa, Buddhist temple complex Fayaztepa, Jarkurgan minaret, Buddhist stupa Zurmala, the cave of Teshik-Tash, settlement Dalverzintepe are the historical monuments of Surkhandarya region. There is another attraction of Surkhandarya region, which is breathtaking in its beauty, that is Sangardak Waterfall.
