Syrdarya region

The Syrdarya region stretches on the left side of the Syr Darya river, which flows only a few tens of kilometers on a narrow bridge between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.  Due to the fact that the Hungry steppe occupies a significant part of the region, the climate in the Syrdarya region is arid. The administrative center is the city of Gulistan, meaning "Blooming land". In Syrdarya region, special attention is paid to the development of ecotourism. The sights of the region are the ruins of the medieval city, which is now known as the monument of Nurat, the emergence of which is associated with Alexander the great, who according to legend laid in this place the fortress of Nur; the monument of Sardoba is a stone storage of water in Central Asia, and the name itself means "cold water".
